Default Resharpen eskimo auger turbo BB8 blades

Just received back a couple of auger blades from a shop and tried them
on the ice this weekend. Had to push down on the auger for it to cut through the ice. Needless to say it was a snowcone machine.
I then found out the blades were improperly sharpened. the BB8 Eskimo blades are to be sharpen on the top side of the blade only. The shop sharpened both sides. Dose anyone know if these blades are salvageable?

Not sure if the blades are salvageable but if not you should see if the shop will get you new blades. Surely a shop would have known to only sharpen one side.

Nope they are not. Auger blades need to be sharpened only on one side, at a precise angle. They're junk now.

I don't know who this "shop" is, but they're idiots.

Take them to Childer's Sharpening Service on S Broadway...they should be able to take a look at them and tell you if they are salvageable or not. They did a nice job on my blades last week.

Go Find is accurate about them being sharpened on one side only.

I did find a place in Fort Collins CO
Pricision Knife and tool LLC.
The owner Tim had been sharping Auger blades for a while.
He examined the blades from the "SHOP" and told me the following:
They had grinded off too much metal and there is a different angle or pitch on every blade.
Thinking these blades were toast I managed to purchase the last set at
Sportsman Warehouse. Tim checked the angle on the new blades and measured it to be at 47 degree vs the old blades measured between 34 to 40 degrees. Big Difference! Tim is in the process of correcting the angle on one set. The other 2 sets are scrap metal.
Thanks again for your responce.

I think most auger companies have a blade exchange program. Send them the old ones they send you new ones at a discounted price or something. I'm not to sure but I know I've read about it somewhere here.

It's located in Loveland, Co
Rocky Mountain Sharp Shop.
They probable do a good job sharping lawn mower blades and such but
not Auger blades.

Eskimo said they would sharpen and return...I think it was $11.

Childers on Broadway sharpens for $5.
