Default What lakes get hard water first?

I know that the snake river inlet is usually one of the first places, which other lakes tend to freeze first? When does Lake John freeze? Hope to get the boat out one more time then focus on the hard water season.

Last year Tarryall was ready by early December and Georgetown freezes pretty early, too. If I remember right, Lake John was fishable last year around Thanksgiving.

I fished 11-Mile at Witchers one year at Thanksgiving. The ice was very thin in the cove and the rest of the lake was open. I actually chipped my hole early in the morning about 30 ft. from shore and then went back to the bank and cast out to my hole. With a fairly heavy weight I could drag my bait to the hole and let it drop in. My dad actually hooked a fish this way. Couldn't get it out though. We basically wasted an hour while we could have been fishing open water. We did move to open water after losing that fish.

I thought I was going to duck hunt on Tarryall on Thanksgiving day last year... It had a good 4-5" of ice, wished I had the auger.
