Game-on!!!! This is formerly cptHook and I've changed my handle since someone else took it. Just because I haven't posted in a year. Anyhow, got to g-town at 7am and fished till 1pm. My son and I caught over 60 trout. I'm going to the chiropractor tomorrow to treat my right arm for whip-lash after missing so many other ones. It's a great warm up for the ice-fishing season. Besides the normal g-town size of fish, we also caught some browns and bows 13-15 inches long. We fished by the bridge about thirty feet out (the dam or east side of the bridge). In about fifteen FOW. Waxworms worked great in the morning and after the bites slowed we switched to little pieces of shrimp. It was awesome!!!!! My son caught most of the big ones and didn't want to quit.
Another side note, BassPro had strikemaster augers for $20. I bought a six inch and an eight inch since replacement blades run $16 to $20. I think the sale ends Sunday. Fire up!
I knew I fogot something! The ice was 3" thick--don,t let the open water scare you. I counted 15 people on the ice including one fat guy ! I also forgot to mention that one local fly fisherman said DOW stocked G-Town with 11,000 stockers last month including some bigger ones!!! Watch out for the wind kiccking up also--I lost my gander mtn folding chair blow across the ice and take aplunge in the open water. I decided not to chase it. Which I stil think was a good decision!!! Fish on!!
Hey nice fish Eagle Claw - that's a nice brown. As an fyi - the other CaptHook changed his name to Lew when he found out you guys were two of a kind. I've heard the DOW stocks broods in there in the fall - sounds like they're right on schedule.
