Re: When does turquoise freeze up
I've been wondering that myself. I fished it for the first time last year and had a blast over two days. Lots of 18-22" lakers. We fished within 200 yards of the dam in 40-50 FOW. The ice was slushy and stratified (lots of thin layers of ice/snow/slush). It was a very weird ice because the wind would blow the snow down towards that end of the lake and, on warmer days, snowmelt from the bank would make its way to the ice as well. All of that made for a mushy surface that was 2 feet thick in February (Presidents Day weekend).
Unless you have a snowmobile you probably won't stray far beyond the dam.
I am blessed to be living in Colorado!
