Default Jefferson

Has anyone been to Jefferson in the past week? How is the road up to the lake? We want to run our sleds up if there is enough snow pack.

Went to Jefferson Lake on Sunday while it was snowing. The road was getting worse as the day went on. The Ice in the bay by the parking lot was a little thin but once you got past that section it was pretty thick. The road had a bit of ice on it so be careful.

Thanks for the info, is the gate at the bottom of the hill closed for the season?
Is it the same old gate with a single bar and lock, we need to be able to scoot under it with snowmobiles.

Used a depth finder and all the fish were between 30 and 40 feet with no sign of any fish any deeper then 65+. Got there around 7 and the fish stopped biting around 9:30 - 10:00.

we were up there a couple weeks ago. fish were being very picky, i tried alot of different lures too. missed 2 good hookups, i think i caught 6 or 7 average bows (let em go), bob caught a decent keeper mix of lakers/bows .. biggest mack was 16" or so

we could see thru the water about 10-15 ft down with the sun being out & closing all the windows on hut. were watching lakers cruise right beneath the holes, which seemed odd. i think they were chasing the rainbows around. marked fish all over screen in 40 fow, about 11am-1pm. was fun watching the macks inspect different spoons, but they would dart away at the last second when it looked they were gonne bite. was cool when a couple of em would come in at the same time. i lost a wopper using a huge rainbow colored tube jig at the bottom. seemed like fish would hit a lure once, then get bored with it.

i kept catching bows fishing the bottom for lakers, weird. usually catch them at 10-15 ft. we also were catching bows looking down the hole, deep enough that all we could see was the jig/mealie, it would start moving from fish nipping, then when it disappeared set hook & bam .. fish on

good luck if you go, ice is solid at least ... bring your cleats & hut anchors
