I use to live in Gypsum and the black lakes were a place I would fish midweek. There are some big fish in both lakes but the biggest we caught were in the lake farthest from the parking lot. If you go on the weekend all you'll catch are little ones. On the weekend I would fish some ponds about an hour drive past Sylvan lake. Sweet water lake has a lot of big fish. I also did quite well fishing the creek that comes down from Hanging lake. There are huge trout in that stream but it's too long of a walk for me to do these days.
