Default Propane augers: Pros & Cons

Didn't even know they existed until last winter. What do I need to know before I decide to buy one?

not to get one unless all you do is ice fish nice weather. had a jiffy prop, took it back for solo strikemaster after going to jefferson 2 holes and it froze. the solo is reliable and sips fuel. even in the miles negative degrees weather.

All you need to know is a 18v Milwaukee drill and clam plate are 10x superior to propane.... that's all

Milwaukee Brushless M18 Fuel Drill with the most amp hour batteries you can afford.

Burn the rest.

I love my ION (aka "The Prius")! The only time I fired up my gasser after going electric was to sell it.

So propane doesn't run in the cold and i need to build a Frankenauger ;-) Got it. How many holes in 12" ice is a battery good for with the M18? With the Ion?

I run a 7" auger with a brushless Rigid drill and I would say on one battery I bet I could get 20-30 holes in 12" of ice. Maybe more maybe less....I dunno. Only used it one year so far and didn't really fish much thick ice.
