ha,ha... you are gonna get all the "power haters" all fired up... you know the ones i'm talking about, the guys that say they can drill through 30 inches of ice in like 3 seconds with their hand augers... that would be fine if you never had to do some "searching" for good spots. i would hate to have to drill 50 holes a day by hand, even through 6 inches of ice...

I remember not having a power auger. It was TERRIBLE.

I mean....yeah....we could drill through fine...but as jamie says...the searching is a pain in the arse. When we didn't have a power auger, more often than not we would only go to one or two spots, even if the fishing wasn't as good.

But now that we have a power auger...we change spots often and it makes us more productive!

What kind do you have Steamer? How big? 10"?

i got a 2 hp 10 inch strikemaster and a 3hp 10 inch jiffy stealth. and i actually like them both, the jiffy cuts MUCH better but the strikemaster runs better everywhere and is WAY lighter...i can't decide which one to get rid of...

Man, I do NOT miss the days of manually drilling holes with a hand auger. I agree with Riverunnr1 in that it makes you less lazy when looking for different spots, I love my Strikemaster, it really sucks up the gas, but then again going through 2' at a time will do that in early April.

Going through 3feet of ice at Chambers would not be fun. Not even that fun with a power auger. Al Gore needs to keep his mouth shut now and make us some ice!! lol

Why get rid of one you know when it's gone the other will start acting up! Just keep them both!
