Default Gas Auger question.....

How many of you have augers that DO NOT have a gas primer?  I was shocked that mine does not have one, had to let it sit overnight after I'm pretty sure I flooded it laying on the throttle in an attempt to make sure gas was in the engine before/while trying to get it to start.  Once it sat with gas in the tank, it started right up no problems.  I would hate to drive 2-3 hours to ice fish, then have to set the auger upright for a couple hours before it will start.

Does any have experience with this?  How do you keep/make sure gas is getting to the engine to start it?

I do, had to do that myself for an older eskimo that I now have.  On the engine there should be a metal plate with the model and serial numbers, use those and look it up on eskimo's website or google. Eskimo was even nice enough to email me the owner's and parts manual.

Thanks allot phil.

BTW how you like the Eskimo Auger? I have seen mixed reviews but found this one for such a great deal I couldnt pass it up. I payed Approx. $75 for it

I have been using an eskimo for 3 seasons now -- I love mine. I bought the cheapest one they make. The "Sting Ray" I think ($220). Starts up first pull almost every time and cuts good enough for me. Plus, it does not weigh all that much.

I keep fresh gas in it and run Stabil and carbon guard -- so far so good.

Stabil rocks. As does the Stihl 2-stroke oil with the fuel stabilizer in it.

Gee, gotta go check on the 4 stroke. Still haven't started it up. The trick with the Strike Lite is letting it warm up for about 5 minutes before you go out.

BTW: this is funny - saw the new warning sticker on the new Strikemaster auger fuel tanks - NO E-85!
