Default The best ice shelter?

Since you guys are the subject matter experts, what is the best portable shelter on the market today? I want to update my current pop-up Eskimo. The new shelter has to be able to accomidate 2-3 people..

I just got the new Frabill predator. The thing I like the most is you can stand up in it and it has a good size sled.

on the heavy wieght side if using a snowmobile you cannot beat an otter, the sled with hyfax is by far the toughest out there, allot of the boys up north use them , that why they come in Green bay packer Green or Viking Purple, so many choice for hand pulled sleds and so many methods of fishing so the choice really gets personel as to what works best for you. wieght, hieght, seating, fabric, sled, allot of things to consider.

seems like comparing apples to oranges, depends on what you want it for, how you transport it, how many people in it, etc.

Until I bought my own several years ago, I considered any shelter someone would share with me the best.

Hubby insists that for years, he didn't need a shelter. Then he met me. I now own 2 - my 'Fat Girl' Fish Trap Pro (elbow to elbow for 2, fine for me by myself, or him by himself), and the BP2, which is actually made for 2 people. He has discovered that a shelter is kinda nice to get out of the sideways snow and it's nice to have a smiling wife inside who makes him a hot lunch, lets him fish with the Aqua Vu, and gets a kiss or two for coming by to visit!

Most gals I meet agree that *anything with a heater* is great. Comfy seats also work well. I need to stay out of the bright sunlight in the mid winter on bright days because I still so totally fry through 50 sunscreen. But absolutely, company makes the hut fun.

I was just reading up on "sled" type shelters.

Nancy, I was just checking out the BP2's yesterday. They seem to be a stripped down Fishtrap Guide. Clamcorp claims that they are the best selling shelter ever, it will probably be what I get next. I wish my wife was as open to ice fishing as you are, I almost had her talked into staying with me in the house I rented on Mille lacs.

I had a Fishtrap Yukon until I moved here, a little too heavy to drag if you want to move around a lot. I used my 5600 a lot for fishing late into the night, wish that were legal here. I intended to link them together so I could sleep out there. Stopped making sense when I realized that the only place I usually fished was 500 yds in front of my house.

That Frabill looks like the one they had at GM for a couple hundred less. Very nice hut, just a little bigger(heavier) than me and my dog need. The nicest one I've seen in town is the Team Wild one at BPS, gotta love the bench seat. Good fabric and good sled.

The Predator looks like a sweet set up, drag, flip over and your fishing!A little steep on the price for my budget. I'll see if I can convince the wife..you know for the family.

Predator
Price: $599.00
