Hello gents, just thought I would share how I care my auger. I start the season with the one gallon of fresh, highest octane gas at the pump, ad 1.5 oz of stabil, 1oz of octane boost, sometimes I add heat (isopropyl alcohol) but there's realy no need when using the stabil because it removes moisture. Good to go for the season
when I store for the summer I drain most of the gas from the tank leaving a tiny bit, I add a little stabil to that and run the auger till it dies, then I remove the plug and add 1oz of clean two stroke oil into cylinder bore, apply a rag over spark plug hole and pull starter cord out slowly and repeat once, this will distribute oil throughout the cylinder to prevent corrosion during storage. Keep in mind the storage technics are recomended in the Tecumseh manual for my auger. In five seasons my auger has never
failed to start, and havn't needed any repair or tuning done on it nock on wood
of course it is a Strikemaster after all
and this is just my 2 cents.
