Anyone been up there lately? Any big drifts to worry about?

I was up there (checking out the road, not to the lake) last Thursday. It looked like some people had been driving in and out -- probably with jacked up 4WD trucks. I don't know if they got all the way to the lake but it wasn't all that deep and my guess is they did. I didn't have chains with me so I decided to turn around. Snowmobile track was packed snow and looked just fine to me at that time. I walked in about a mile and a half and and didn't see any bare spots. A whole lot better than the last time I took my snowmobile up in the spring, for sure. I ran out of daylight and didn't make it all the way up to the big drifts though. I expect they have had more snow (possibly a lot of snow) since then.

I agree, trying to drive in at this point would be stupid.

Thanks for the reply's. I am planning on sledding up there. They should close the gate so the road doesn't get all rudded out by trucks driving up there.

I called the ranger station last weekend and they said the gate was closed for the season. Iasked about snow for snow mobiles and he told me they were not allowed. Did this guy know what he was talking about? any one else heard this?

I just called up to the South Park Ranger Station and you got bad info.

Snowmobiles are okay, but OHVs and ATVs are prohibited.
