Default Ice Fishing around Copper Mountain?

I am going to be in Copper Mountian for a family ski trip around New Years, but unfortunately I broke my leg in late October and I dont think I am up to skiing yet. But I am up to drilling a couple of holes and trying to catch some fish . . . unfortunately I just dont know where. Are there any places besides Dillon to ice fish with in a 30 - 45 min drive from Copper? Thanks

Officer's Gulch. Small trout but a lot of fun.

a few more ideas the officers gulch is good
but I don't know if the copper pond freeze over good they have springs becareful but they are at the copper exit east side theres a trail takes you right to the big of the bunch (short walk)

the river right there should be open as well

up the pass you have bear lake (is that right)

its on vail pass the road might be closed so it would be a longer walk for a broken leg maybe not to good but theres goldens in that lake! what ever you choose have fun

oh almost forgot 30-45 minutes I would say green mnt. is in that range good for lakers
damn! and nottingham in avon that would be with in 45 as well its the small pond people ice skate in avon it fishes really well and not mush pressure just stockers there

That happened to me one year. I had a mountain biking accident and couldn't ski so I'd drop the kids off at Copper Mountain and drive over to the Twin Lakes by Leadville. The fishing was always pretty good for medium size lakers (white tube jigs) and rainbows. I'd come back about 4:00 to Copper to pick up the kids. Good luck!

You might be thinking of Black Lakes.

I saw Black Lakes on the map . . . is that a decent possibility or would it be better to stick to Officers Gulch or Dillon?

What about Turquoise Lake down by Leadville? But I have been hearing a lot about Green Mountain so if I drive any decent distance I am guessing that might be the place to be.
