Default 11 mile pike

I have never caught a pike before. I would like to try to catch one through the ice at 11 mile but don't really know that lake at all. I don't need a huge one just want to catch one to add to my iced fish goal this year. I promise I won't keep it (don't really know how to clean or cook pike). Also if anyone knows of another area that I could achieve this goal that would be much appreciated. Thanks for the help.

I would cast out a fat nug of some catfish dynamite, that always gets the job done.

You shouldn't have too much trouble. I caught my first pike through the ice at 11 Mile without even trying while jigging a ratso in 13 foot of water at Stoll Mountain. It was only about 15" but we saw larger ones cruising and stopping to take a look. Had we been fishing with the appropriate rig, I think we could have landed some larger ones in the 25-30" range.

on my tip up and when im specifically targeting pike i use, pline 20lb flouro for a leader. they seem to shy away from the steel ones. so just use a the flouro and check it after you catch a fish

and I will say mt father fishing the golf of mexico uses a mono leader as well only useing steel once in awhile. I like the 20lb test ( i use steel so I'll try the 20lb some time and see what I think) sounds good because you always want to use the smallest line possable when fishing man
