Default Need help! First time Ice fisher here

Hello all, hope the new year is going well for everyone, I tried going out on the ice for the first time saturday at williams fork, fished near the inlet in about 20 feet of water, Ice was great, about 9 inches everywhere, anyway, I got skunked big time. I tried using tube jigs and sucker meat but I'm not confident I was rigging or fishing it right. Anyone willing to part with a couple pointers? or is anyone going out this week that wouldn't mind doing a little teaching? Thanks everybody!

I like it to be alittle deeper then that for sucker jigging does williams have lakers?
don't think so?
are you after the pike?
20 ft or less is good trout depth maybe some small jig tipped with your ice baits like meallies, waxies, samon eggs ect....
it helps to know what your targeting
if your not sure then the first thing would be to decide on what your after that will help right there!

I was out yesterday morning till about noon on the fork. It was dead with only 2 bites, so you're not the only one who got skunked.

Yes Williams Fork is full of lakers. Went out 2 weeks ago and had fair success. I went straight out from the East boat ramp. Go out from the point and fish in water about 35-60 FOW. Get about a 1/4 oz. jighead, put it on either a white, chartreuse, or rainbow colored tube. I like to filet my suckers, then cut the filets either 1x1" or 1/2x1". Put it on meat up so the skin is facing the barb so it doesn't come off as easy. Drop your rig to the bottom and fish right near the bottom. Jig so often by lifting about a foot and letting it drop, they'll either hit on the way down or while you have it sitting right after the jig. Hope this helps, good luck!

Exactly, what species of fish were you after? You really have hunt for them in my experience there, which means drilling a lot of holes. I dont spend more than 15 minutes staring down a hole unless I get some sort of action or see them on electronics. I saw you out there, you were the only one at the inlet I believe.

From the east boat ramp all the way to the other side of the lake (dad stayed by the ramp while I went out on the snomobile [yes we got a ticket grrr]).

I was told by locals there that it's fine to have snowmobiles on the lake and that they don't enforce it. That sucks man, I'm glad I didn't take mine out.
