I sharpen my chipper blades all the time. Use oil and a fine file. it is of the utmost importance to keep the original angle(s).

You can purchase a new blade from strikemaster for $32.95:

http://www.strikemaster.com/store/bl...er_blades.html

Or

You use there Blade Exchange service for $19.95:

http://www.strikemaster.com/store/blade_exchange.html

Or

You can buy a sharpener for $9.59:

http://www.thornebros.com/winter/aug...sharpener.html

TIP from Strikemaster.com

General blade information for both hand and power augers:
1.
Keep blade guard intact when auger is not in use to protect the cutting blades
2.
After use, wipe blades dry with a cloth and spray a small amount of oil on cutting edge.
3.
Check and tighten blade screws before each use to avoid loss of blades due to vibrating during cutting of holes.
4.
When sharpening StrikeMaster blades, sharpen the edge of the blade that does not come in contact with the ice.

I have heard diff. things about sharpening blades.. Mostly what i hear is that you can F#$% it up pretty easily.. The blade will be sharp as he!! but because the angle is off just slightly it will NOT cut into ice.

Personally I wouldnt suggest trying to re-sharpen unless you have some experience with it. Or you have a set of spare blades to try out on 1st.
