Default Nils Master Gas Auger....thoughts?

Ok, it's time for my new auger. I'm pretty set on the strikemaster lazer or the 2000. Likely the lazer. Saw the Nils Master Gas Auger on-line last night. It's a little more money, but it looks pretty sweet, especially since you can detach the drill and use it as a hand auger.

If you were me, what would you go for?

Save your money. I would go with friends that already have the lazer Mag 2000,..and then buy all the beer, gas, and food for every trip!

Buy something that you can find parts local. i.e new blades in case on contact with a rock.
Doubt that would be the Nils Master

Those Nils look nice! Nice to know that some local stores got blades for them too!

Never tried the Nils but I have had the same Strikemaster for about 7 or 8 years and it has performed great and I cut a ton of holes each year. Only ever had one problem with it and that was a couple of years ago. Ordered a part that cost about $10 from Strikemaster and they were great. Talked me through the problem on the phone and diagnosed it then sent the part out right away. Very helpful and friendly people. The next one I get will definately be a Strikemaster.

Talo has a Nils...it isnt a gas but she can tell you about it...

I think I am going to get an 8 inch power auger this year for lakers...but I am going to buy one of the electrics so I dont have to mess with gas cans...since the few people on here last year that had them really liked them and they really held up as far as a charge...

I liked what the people over at ice shanty.com had to say about them too...

We have been using the strikemaster electric for the last 2 years, great auger, we fish Granby every weekend from Jan. to April no problem with the thickness of the ice.

After we put it through the test for 1 year, I sold the gas strikemaster and will never go back.

Rover is that the one with the Gator motor or does Strikemaster have their own electric?

Strikemaster has there own motor, it is also a 8" bit . Very slick unit just push a button and go.The best thing about it though is not having to worry about spilling gas or sticking it in your sled so the gas cap is facing up.

Do you know how much your Strikemaster weighs with batteries?
