Default Outside hole freezes / prevention?

How do you guys/gals prevent a hole outside your hut from freezing on a cold day? Anybody ever try this thing. I'm a sucker for gadgets, but if this works it would be pretty cool. I don't want to buy one of those heaters for the hole either. Check this out

Thats pretty cool Jeff,

I'd suggest one of those tip ups that covers the entire whole for like $15, but I don't think that you can use those with the automatic fisherman.

TRY PAINTING A PING PONG BALL BLACK AND LEAVE IT IN THE HOLE WHILE YOU FISH. HAVE USED THIS AND SEEMS TO WORK OK.

I like the $ of that! Of course maybe you just want to walk by me on the ice this year and get a good laugh.

Watching the video makes we want to crawl into a nice warm ice hut.

Looks like it keeps ice off the line but the hole will still freeze over; so you still have to chip it out, a problem with the Atomatic and tipups. Appears pretty lame idea to me.

You can always just get a piece of styrofoam, and then cut a slit so that your line can hang free and it's easy to get off of your line once your auto fisherman goes off... Doubt it'd work 100%, but it'd at least keep most of the wind out which is what matters most.

I like the ping pong ball idea, that may work.

One thing I did last year was stuff one of those chemical hand warmers into a zip-lock bag I had left over from lunch and tied it to my transducer cable. That seemed to work ok.

This is a bit more expensive and I have not had any problems with mine.
