Default Clinton Gulch Reservoir?

Calling all cold-footers: I've always been intrigued by that gorgeous slice of lake alongside Hwy. 91 on the climb up Fremont Pass (Clinton Gulch Reservoir), going to Leadville. Thought it might be a great early-season ice fishing stop (?). Would appreciate any feedback from others who have fished it (even if by PM). Once read in the (unfortunately defunct) Fishing & Hunting News that the cutts from this place were especially beautifully colored.

Anyway, thanks.

Clinton Gulch has some cutties, but they're no prettier than anywhere else and it sure wouldn't be on my ice fishing short list.

I'm with Don on this one, Clinton Gulch is a great place to catch some nice looking cutties. But I wouldnt go out of my way to fish it... however if I was driving past it on a trip I may have to stop and poke a few holes just to say I tried. Its a good thing I dont live in Denver, I dont have to drive by this place on my way to south park, lol.. If I would plan on driving to fish this Res it would be right after ice off, other wise its just a pit stop lake.

I have ice fished it several times in the last three years. I have always caught cutts but have never really had a great day. Biggest was around 16 inches but most were 10 to 12 inches. The lake gets alotof snow later in the ice season an is tough to get around on.
