Hee hee. We had fun fishing Tarryall last week. About mid day we ran into something kinda cool.
We were fishing in about 17 feet of water East of the South Boat Ramp when we noticed something trippy on hubby's Vex. Had bands of returns dropping towards the bottom (green) on his display - I didn't have my Vex with me, so I couldn't confirm. We suspected, incorrectly at first, that the guys about 60 yards away from us were using a Marcum or something that was just overpowering us. This however was not the case. (I know what 'sparklys' are on a Vex - keep punching the I.R. button until they stop)
We heard it first, then saw it, when the C-130 came flying over the lake. Got another burst of returns. Not fish. Not bait. That was courtesy of the aircraft, that was banking pretty hard over the lake (we've had them do low flyovers of Antero in the summer (was like that last time we were out). Very cool effect. We've had F-16's fly over Elevenmile when we've ice fished there in years past (always banking their wings - you so know they wish they were out there!).
This was last Wednesday (day before turkey day) - anybody see 'em at Antero?
Anybody ever have any sonar 'artifact' from military aircraft like this? Sure looked cool.
