I just picked up the materials to tie up some 'Red Headed Wobblers' in the most recent copy of Fly Tyer, which are presented as a very versatile smallmouth pattern.
It's a virtually hackle-less bugger pattern tied on a 3x long streamer hook. I've tied up a 'bunny fly' out of black zonker strips with flash and a lead underbody, which are apparently deadly for smallmouth as well.
Now here's the question, on the whole bass thing, I have a packet of Dai-Riki #810 1x strong bass hooks in a size 6, which I'd picked up a few years ago for a different application, and was wondering if anybody could suggest a pattern which would take advantage of this particular style of hook. I gather this is a 'spun deer hair' type hook from the shape of it. Oh, how I detest spinning deer hair...
