Default 1 and 2 material flies

Taking a look at the recent stonefly pattern posts got me thinking about my favorite simple stonefly pattern (girdle bug, two materials). Then I started thinking about other simple patterns that use only a couple materials like the pheasant tail and the usual. So what are your favorite patterns that use limited materials?

Simple thread and wire rib midges are always crucial.

do you count thread as a material? I tend to... yeah, ditto thread midges! and eggs... "OG" PT's, as mentioned.

I dont hardly ever fish a dry, but Grifith's gnats are go-getters... San Juan worm? Disco midge? POISON TUNG! wait, guess that has a bead...DOH!

he he he...

cheers!

Thats funny. That thread got me to thinking. Do I want to take 10 minutes to tie a fly that if I bounce it along the bottom of the river, I will lose it to snags in 20?
I am sure the authors, inventors of those flys can tie them faster than that, but it's tough to beat a Woolly Buuger bounced along the river bottom to simulate a Stone nymph. That being said, I like the 20inch stone and yes, it takes me about 10 minutes to tie it.
Paint me the hypocrite.

Mice, it may be a ton of material --but deer hair can make a lot of patterns out of this one material
And I don't add wiskers
BTW BPS just sent me my invite for their "spring classic" , so who else is coming?
