Most buoyant, light colored elk hair
Okay, you walk into a fly shop to buy elk hair, and are presented with a multitude of choices, cow, bull, yearling, bleached, natural, etc.
I'm tying a surface film emerger that sports a wing composed of 2 CDC oilers with a top of elk hair - the tail and abdomen of this fly hang down into the film quite a bit - is tied on a Daiichi hook used for Klinkhamers. Want something known for buoyancy (think hollow fibers here).
Wisdom, suggestions, etc. I know somebody will have the knowledge. (I never got to the wisdom on elk hair winged dries in fly tying classes) and already have some bleached yearling at home.
More importantly, SET THE HOOK!
I still say he married me because he took me ice fishing and I still wanted to go fishing with him again!
