Default Arctic Char fishing pal

Its hard, you have to hike to the spot, its always freezing as cold and windy on dillon, but what a great fishing opportunity. Also a very solid chance to break a state record if thats what your into.
I find myself bagging my dillon plans and loading up the sled and going to Green Mountian instead. I'm looking for a pal to go after the arctic char to help motivate me. I live in Silverthorne.

Is there anything really worth fishing for in Dillon?

The kokannee are dinkers, but its pretty cool that they are the only natural reproducing in the state. No machines allowed on the lake so its alot of walking.
Let me know if you want to hit it up sometime.
I will do. After the crack melts-

You ever get any pics of them? I've always wanted to see a dillon char! And I would be very interested in targeting them!

They're a really prety fish, you can occasionally find them in the river below Dillon.

The limit is 4 fish. The handfull of them that i have seen had fins just like a brook trout, dark green almost black back, with bright white spots, white bellly with some yellow orange in it. most people that catch them at the inlets in the spring and fall think they caught a brookie. tomorrow i will try to get a pic if i catch one.
Based on the stocking reports there are about 30,000 + of them to fish for. 20,000 were stocked in 08 by a private donor that did it in honor of his son who passed away who loved to fish at Dillon. I believe, a few thousand more were stocked every year up to 2010 i think. They were also stocked in 1998 and sometime way before 1994 because 94 is when the state record was caught at 3lbs 12oz.
With lots of small kokes, tones of suckers, and the overpopultion of mysis combined with the absense of other predetors that run deep. I'm wondering if these fish will just keep growing and im wondering how big the biggest one is. A guy would think that if one was almost 4lbs in 94, than there should be some real lunkers in there. Arctic char don't get very big though. Thats why they put them in Dillon istead of the almighty and beloved Lake Trout.
