Default Reasonabally Priced Casting reels

I am looking for a moderately priced reel with a flipping switch! They will be used to slab and to pull bouncers. I have one BPS KVD reel made by Quantum that I have used the last five years and it is perfect! Now I need three more that are like it. I think I paid $99.00 for it? They will only be used for the above purposes, not casting.

I found the new KVD version at Tackle Ware house. They will be perfect for slabbing and Bouncers. I also bought Some 7' Diawa Lexa's at BPS yesterday that will pair perfectly with them!

I picked up a Quantum Code CD870CXB a couple years ago to learn how to flip. I think I paid $85 at sportsmans. I've been happy with it.

They have a new one this year that I just ordered. It comes with Bigger paddle handles also. Should be perfect setups for slabbing spoons and blades! I am looking forward to learning how to use my I-Pilot. Should really make slabbing a lot easier! I am hoping Pueblo starts getting a lot of the banana belt weather it is famous for so I can get out and just fish a lot!

If you upgrade the bearings in the reels they will perform a lot better. I have a few black max reels that will compete with the revos because of upgraded bearings

Default Reel

Neal

I've been using the Abu Garcia Silver Max reel for the past couple of seasons now just for the purpose of spooning, blading, vertical jigging, etc. With very good results. It has a flipping switch on it, and is priced at $60.00 at Cabelas.

Thanks! I actually just picked up a couple more of the Quantums. I can"t even imagine slabbing all day with out a flipping switch

Agreed..it seems, though, that a flipping switch is not as popular on a reel as it once was..
I bought a BPS Extream reel, with a flipping switch about 5 or 6 years ago, and it works OK, but the quality of this reel is very bad, IMO..

I don't understand that either. If you don't want to use the flipping switch then don't But at least you have the option! I know Shimano has one of their higher end reels with one, but I can't remember which model it is?
