water filter for long trips

do ya'll have a favorite gravity fed water filter for long outings? not a personal straw type but one of the bag/bottle ones that does 6-10L...I always thought Katadyn was pretty top of the line but they've only got 3-3.5 of 5 stars on most reviews, bunch of things I've never heard of with higher ratings at the similar $89-119 price point. what do you like that you actually use?

We tried a gravity fed Katadyn and it just took too long. I prefer the pump type Yeah it takes a little more work but 1 gallon in about 3 minutes is about 30 minutes faster than the gravity filter bullshit!

I think Clam makes a battery operated one that you dont have to pump but lol it adds 7 pounds to your backpack plus the solar charger...camp below treeline for obvious reasons...bwahahahahaha

I have the katadyne gravity fed 6L, works awesome and holds enough water per day for a few guys.

Katadyn Vario. At $100 its a small price to pay for clean water when you need it most. I take it a lot of places that have questionable water. Going on 3 years with mine, only had to disassemble once as it was really slowing down.

any of you using .02 filters? clogging faster/easier?
I'm thinking Sawyer might be my current leader for what I want to buy. I don't like the bag to bag ones, bag to bottle/bucket/whatever is good for me.
they all seem to cost about $100 bucks. supposedly the sawyer will never need additional parts.

I have a vario too and its awesome. I've had it for 3 years as well, and had to order a new filter because i didn't dry it out. But otherwise it pumps water very quickly and the quick connects are convenient.
