Default Bernie rod do-over.

Bernie rod re-do, rough handle mock up, need to turn down the foam accents, and the foregrip needs re-shaped. the guide wraps will have underwraps in the same green and overwraps in black.

I didn't get the new guide for this rod until after ice season so I put it on hold for a bit, I think it's about time to get it wrapped up and ready.

Did you redo the guides? I just cut off the first one to make it work. The ideal ice rod for me is a 42" old turner rod.

First coat of finish went on last night, will only need one more coat tonight and I'll get some pics of it up.

the only problem i have with the rod is the bottom guide is too low and puts a bad angle on your line, so i just get rid of it.

The only time line angles make a difference is when the rod is under load. Under load the line should be on the bottom of that guide, or you have a small fish on. If you wanted to put a larger guide on it, or a higher framed guide I can point you to the place that has the black frames with the hard chrome inserts. You talkin' spinning or casting?

I think Steve is talking about the spinning model. The first guide on that is too small and/or placed to close to the handle if I remember right.

It's not too close, the guide frame is too short. You can get match guides(taller, don't know why they call them match guides) and replace just that one guide.
