Default Birch Bark

Anyone know if there are birch trees in Colorado? I'm looking for a dead one to cut bark from.

There are birch trees in Colorado.

IIRC, they don't have the strongest root systems and are prone to falling over. This might make it easier to find a "donor".

My next door neighbors lost a big one this spring. My dad has a big one looming menacingly over the back of his house. If we finally get off our asses and do something about it sometime soon, I will make sure to save you some bark.

Let me know and I'll show up to help out if my back is up for it. I'd be willing to put a rod together with some of it as well.

I'll let you know, Drew.

From wiki:

"The most southerly stand in the Western United States is located in Lost Gulch in the City of Boulder Mountain Parks, an isolated Pleistocene relict that most likely reflects the southern reach of boreal vegetation into the area during the last Ice Ages."

Very pretty! I saw the title and thought maybe you were getting into vintage canoe building.
