I've been asked before how I set up the steering on my toon and recently Nancy and Randy asked if I could show them how...I told them I'd post it up in the tackle garage. Here it is Nancy (fishingal) and Randy (da yooper).
On the trolling motor... Galvanized pipe on the side hooked to the cord...plastic will break over time.
Stowed for traveling.
Motor mounted on the toon. I used the aluminum strap to give me a pivot point for routing and to hook up the spring...the spring is the automatic return.
An eye hook for the guide to the lever.
A bicycle stem to mount the lever/handle. That's just a shelf hanger used as the lever...you can see the cord hooked to the bottom.
Just have a piece of copper tubing inside the stem...tighten the hex bolts on the stem to adjust the tension on the lever.
That's all it is...Hope it helps you out Randy and Nancy...
