Your dream drift boat?
What features would you like to see on your dream drift boat that aren't available on most drift boats now?
Based on what I see on the '96 Hyde I bought, making the bottom tougher or easier to repair would be high on my list. How about an aluminum floor and stainless steel bottom with rubber sound deadening between them. Might be a bit heavy but you could probably pass the boat on to your grand kids without having to replace the bottom.
Or replaceable bottom sections that can be changed by just removing several screws.
How about being able to convert the interior to sleeping accomodations with a tent canopy that fits over the boat. On multiday trips you could sleep on the boat

I would make them a lot more like a raft

20 ft, fiberglass, with a 250 HP outboard and a huge casting deck.

I saw a drift boat at City Market here in Durango the other day that was a silver sparkly gelcoat just like a bass boat! I tried to get a pic to post here, but they got out of the parking lot before I could manage it.

Ive had both drift boats and rafts at this point and it is clear to me that a raft suits our state better than the drifty. Fishing out of a drifty is just nicer, but the rivers we have require the versatility of the raft.

IF however I lived in Montana or somewhere that a Drifty would be more sense, then a Clack would be my go to.

I would think that adding a floor as you mentioned... or a heavier hull would defeat the purpose of having a boat that is light, nimble, and has a shallow draft..

I had a clack a craft. Great boat. It was only a matter of time that the fiberglass drift boaters would ask for bling and start going with metal flake on their drift boats. If some of the major glass boat company's get into drift boats, it will get interesting.
