The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness is one of those places most of us believe will stay pristine and wild forever. It's America's most visited Wilderness area, enjoyed by millions of fishermen and boaters every year. But that could change if we let the U.S. Forest Service renew mining leases that could destroy it.

What’s at stake?
An industrial series of sulfide-ore copper mines could be allowed to renew operations on the edge of the wilderness area. Pollution from these mines will flow directly into the heart of the Boundary Waters, increasing acidity to dangerous levels and wiping out fish and other wildlife. Learn more.
The mining companies can “promise” that a disaster won’t occur, but in the history of sulfide mining, damaging pollution has never been avoided. Is that a chance you want to take?
