How about an almost snag? My wife's family used to elk hunt in the LaSal Mountains on the Colorado/Utah border. While they hunted I usually took my pontoon and fished some of the local lakes. One hunting camp we set up near Hidden Lake on the west side of the LaSals. No one was having much luck so they decided to hunt further east, closer to Redd Ranch (if you know where that is along the Colorado border). I stayed in camp and wandered up to the nearby lake and put my pontoon in. No sooner had I put in and started casting with my fly rod than a cow elk and her calf walked by the lake. They were close enough that I could have hooked the calf with my fly but I thought better of it as I didn't want mama elk coming into the lake after me for bothering her calf. So, does that count?
