I like to fish for several species! I usually fish for them in specific seasons. Thats whats cool about Colorado! You can go up and down in altitude. My favorites are.

1. Walleye
2. Pike
3.Brown Trout
4.Smallmouths

I fish Spinney and 11-mile alot. I also fish Aurora, Chatfield, Lonetree and Pueblo alot. I try to get up to Glendo twice a year also!

Hmmm... My favorite is stocker trout! J/J

Ok, I'll be serious. I would have to say it is a close call between wiper and crappie. Crappie (slabs) are just too fun and challenging at the same time while wiper are the only fish I know that will give me a work out even when it is smaller than the size limit (15 inches at most Reservoirs).

Since this is a "favorite species" subject and I'm bored out of my mind while sitting here at work, I'll talk about other species I like and why.

Stocker Rainbows: easy to catch, but it aint a sunfish. Yeah!

Walleye: walleye rhymes with eye and FRY!

Brook Trout: camping food (cook em on a stick with salt and pepper and then I eat em with plain steamed rice)

Largemouth Bass: tought me a bunch about soft plastics. I owe it to the Bigmouths

Smallies: the beautiful bronze fish comes next to the wiper when you're talkin pound for pound fighting, though some will disagree

Channel Catfish: the best way to make use of summer insomnia

White Bass: puts up a fight too

Brown Trout: the bigger trout of my life were these

I am deffinately not a trout person. Being from Kansas i do like to fish for channel cats, and love fried catfish. But i think my favorite fish last year was the wiper out at the lake in longmont, what a blast that was!

Hey Koni, what part of Kansas are you from? I grew up in Lenexa.

I really didn't appreciate the excellent warm water fishing we had till I moved away

I am originally from Hutchinson, its not too far from McPherson Kansas. My son was living in Manhattan last year and he was sending me photos of some of the flatheads he was catching at a lake close by Manhattan, flatheads that were 49 pounds, 35 pounds, 47 pounds etc. I get my catfish tips from him. He sent me a bunch of tackle like he uses for catfish for christmas. I don't know though, these hooks and bobbers he sent me are huge, they look like whale tackle! ha!
