Default Abyss Lake in Mount Evans Wilderness?

I'm going to be camping up at Abyss lake this weekend and was wondering if anyone out there is familiar with this lake? Is there any fish in that lake or the other lakes around there? I'd like to know so I don't have to lug up extra gear if I don't need too.

Thanks!

Stu

There are fish in there, and most of the lakes around there. Just take some flys and spinners and you should do well. Abyss is a bit of a hike in so pack light but be prepared for weather, this time of year it could snow up there. Good luck!

Remember synthetics instead of cotton... cotton keeps moisture in which will keep you cold the whole time. (If the weather turns bad)
Good Luck
If you are fly fishing small flies, mosquitos, gnats, ect, works good with fly and bubble too. I agree on the spinners and would add kastmasters to the list as well.

I'm no high lake expert, but fished the high lakes in Mt. Evans about 3 weeks ago. We caught a lot of fish with a fly & a bubble. I was using #12 parachute adams. I know the other guys were using hoppers and (possibly) gnats/mosquito type patterns.

The orange rooster & yellow/red p. martin were producing for me. I did not get any hits on the silver or gold spinners.

Here's a pics of the cutt with the orange rooster.

I have 3 of those orange rooster tails, because everyone always says that one produces the most fish for them, I have yet to catchone on that pattern. But I do have it in my box and usually tie one on the kids pole just incase.

I know what you mean Epic.* I seem to always keep buying the kastmasters (after losing them) & still have not catch anything on it. Hopefully, I will catch fish on the GREAT X-RAP.*

I caught the first Cutt that day on the 3rd cast & caught another one on the 4th cast on that orange rooster tail.

Things that make you go Hmmm.....

I dunno, i have some similar colored home-made spinners I swear by...
I think I read that orange/red is good for trout....
