Guy Montera used to make and sell Montera's Marvels. They were the original Pistol Pete's, and there was a big legal fight over the Pistol Pete name. Guy's flies were constructed much better. I know, because I used to tie flies for him. he was very fussy about how they were made.

He was my best friend, and we went fishing together all the time. He was a fish catching machine, and any less than 50 fish a day was a bad day for him. He taught me how to fish a bubble and fly. Fly meaning a streamer with a prop. Really more of a lure than a fly.

Sadly, Guy passed away a few years ago. I lost a good friend, and the world lost Montera Marvels. The inferior Made in Mexico Pistol Pete's are are the only choice now. They still catch the hell out of fish though.

I forgot to ask. When you were at Twin Lakes. Did you go try Forebay? I find the fishing better there. The best spot being the swirl.

I did not. We had some little ones with us so just picked a spot on the north shore and stayed in that location.

Honorable mention. I am not sure if this is the definition of getting skunked as I had fish on yesterday but couldn't reel either of them in before they got off. This was fly fishing in a creek very near Denver. Threw on a rainbow warrior and had two fish on, one actually a very decent size, but both got off before I could get them all the way in.

So, not exactly skunked but I didn't exactly catch anything. I am starting to think it is harder to catch fish with worms than on the fly!
