Keep the fish, not knowing what it is, then id it when you get home. If you don't know what it is, how do you know if there is a slot or length limit?

Can't you keep any size of any catfish there aren't any slot limits when it comes to them atleast state wide

You should be familiar with the species before taking it home PERIOD. Kinda bothers me you taking that fish home not knowing what you had. Did you take it home because you thought maybe you had a record? With today's tech out there at everyone's finger tips it could have been identified and checked out on the net before taking it home IMO.

The only good way to identify a Channel cat from a blue cat is to count the anal fins rays./bones.

Color and head shape and tail fin are not good ways here in Co plus it changes as they age. So count the Anal fin rays.
