Default Taking Suggestions...

Okay, so I have tomorrow 10/19 off work and my wife said to go fishing. It looks like I'm going to have to go to make her happy. My problem is I can't decide where to go or what to target. With the storm that came through I'm not sure how it will affect the fishing this time of year. Do I go for Bass, Trout, or Walleye, or all, or none of the above? I'm willing to drive about 50 miles from Erie and could fly fish the St. Vrain or maybe take a cold float tube to Boyd. What to do. Have the Bass turned off for the winter? I don't know. Where should I go? I would appreciate your suggestions if you have them. Please keep them polite (I,ve been reading this forum for a while now.) Thanks and good fishin'

I might hit spinney/ 11 mile
seems like trout would be less affected by the snow.....
I was gonna go bass fishing today... not going to now...
but I dunno, I usually don't fish this time of year.

Thanks, I'm leaning toward going up the Big Thompson and kicking around. I haven't been there in years.and then only a couple of times. I wish all my problems were this big. What to do what to do...? If any one has tips for the big thompson they would be welcome.

At 11 CFS, this is very tough fishing.* Find deeper runs or pools, approach slowly and cast very carefully.* Try a small Adams with a Black Beauty dropper.

Fishaholic, thanks for the heads up. That sounds like a little too much work. I checked the flow on the website and the canyon is about 60-50 cfs so I'll probably head there. Tied up some nymphs to try and hopefully the fish Gods will be smiling on me today.

There is a good fly shop on 34 as you head up. It is on the south side of the HWY and is called Great Western fly shop I believe. They were very helpful when I stopped in for some advice. They have the most current fishing reports as well for the Thompson.

Either they moved or went out of business but the Great Western Fly Shop is no longer in the building.
