Default Help Identifying fish

Ok can anyone please look at this link and tell me what kind of fish this is.

I caught 2 of those at Pueblo today and Im praying they are not Walleye.* That was what I was fishing for but the dang lure is bigger than that is.* Would be my first Walleye ever and what a heart breaker that is.

Also tried to post as a picture and did what Epic said to do and put * and / but sub <> with [] and it didnt work.* So any help there would be greatly appreciated as well.

Ok I see what I did wrong now thanks for the info and I got the pic to show up now.

They are yellow perch.* I didn't realize Pueblo had any.

The Colorado Division of Wildlife has a page on species identification that is pretty good.*

You may want to check out the screenshots I posted in the "How do you post pics" thread (they are near the bottom of this link):

and make sure your image link looks like the one described in Step 6, e.g. for your image:

Don, that website isn't working...seems to lock up my computer. Maybe it's just on my end. It looks like a perch, but has the dorsal fin of a walleye. Don't know, been a while since I caught a perch.

My fault. I had a brain fart the way I posted it first. It's fixed.

Without a doubt it is a yellow perch. Don - they have been in Pueblo for at least 2-3 years. The biggest I have seen so far this year is around 11 inches. Have heard of a 13 incher being caught. They will give us something else to target in the winter time...and for you crank draggers, perch immitations will work better. Recall the perch heavy days up at Glendo and how well the perch cranks worked?

Are the perch going to be a positive there? Or will it make the fishing even tougher?

Hard to say but I think it will add another predator to the system.* When perch are young they will be a food source but when bigger they will help reduce the smaller shad.* Provides another fisherperson opportunity to the lake unlike shad...ever eat one of those...yuk!
