Default Glenwood Sprigs area

Anybody fished up there lately? I'm going to be staying in Carbondale next Monday through Wednesday. I'm hoping to hit my favorite stretch of the Roaring Fork (above Basalt) but I don't know how snowpacked it is at this point. Sometimes I can get up there in November and sometimes I can't.

Send a PM to TroutFishingBear. I'll bet he has good info on that.

onefishnfool - You should be good! We had some snow in the area this time last week, but temps have been in the 50's since then so there shouldn't be much, if any, snow in the lower lying valleys like the Fork. There is decent snow higher in the mountains, but you should be good. I've heard the Fork is fishing great right now. Clarity is good, flows are good, and the trout are hungry. Good Luck!

I fished the area around Carbondale the end of Sept. and 1/2 way into Oct. Had very good fishing on the Pan and tried the Roaring Fork for my first time. I had success on the Roaring Fork right in the Rte 133 area, I found the river a bit intimidating there, (current and depth), but the fish were aggressive and fat. Good luck and let us know how you do.

Thanks guys! I did send a pm to the bear - we'll see what he has to say! I'm really looking forward to the trip!

didn't get the pm (it was wierd, said I had a new pm but it isn't in my box.......anyway), but basically rip lip nailed it. If snowpack happens to be too great up there, do not hesitate to hit the colorado river right off of I-70 in places like south canyon (exit 111), and grizzly creek (exit 121 I believe). Find a decent sized sandbar anywhere and drift some nymphs through there and you'll bag some pig cutbows. find a rocky run around grizzly creek bounce some flies through the troughs and nail browns, whitefish, and some rainbows as well.
