Default pueblo good news 1/23

I haven't been to the lake in some time, but my son was there this morning hunting and he told me that the lake is full already. they normally open the flood gates in mid march so it looks like the river will get a better flow soon.

LOVE A FULL LAKE

Do you know what the ice conditions are? Can you launch at the North Marina?

Thanks

Jeff

I was there today and it is full. We launched at the North Marina and fished most of the day. It was very slow, but still great to be out on open Water!! I,caught 2 slimers and one 16" eye nothing to write home about, but we had fun. Kooser was there also and got a keeper! Water temp was pretty much from 35 to 39 degree's everywhere I went. It is iced from about middle island back to the inlet.

My prediction: the river will be extremely high and basically unfishable for most of spring and summer this year

Sounds like a repeat of year's past. Blown out sides, muddy raging water and lots less fishing pressure. Can make for decent fishing if you know how to work it and be safe while doing it.

it might not be so bad as the springs is looking to start pumping water in the SDS pipeline in mid april. so that water wont go down the river until it comes back in fountain creek below town. I havn't heard if they are ready to start filling their new lake. I hope they are ready now while we have so much water

Anyone going this Saturday? I'm giving serious consideration myself. Got a few things to get ready on the boat, but I think I can make it.
