Default Harsh Conditions

Spinoff from AO's thread. I thought it would be fun to see people's pics of fishing in harsh conditions. I'll start it off.

Blue Mesa in December with Oyey and SoreLips.

Same day:

Taking a friend up to a high lake in the Fall. He regretted the hike, but at least it was sunny!

This happened when I was about 16 years old.....so prolly like 2001ish. Took my dads boat out and crazy ass storm rolled through. If I remember right several boats were sunk and people were stranded on islands around the lake. My boat is actually just to the right of the photo in the paper. It was basically stranded on shore the next day LOL.....that day the temp dropped from about 90 to 45 in a matter of 30 minutes. Wind was crazy. We helped a couple whose bass boat was sinking....helped drag their boat kinda to shore and then holed them up in the Prarie Princess tour boat....wrapped tablecloths around them and everything.....both were probably pretty close to hypothermia. Ambulances were fairly close by, luckily....as lots of people were having a bad time that day

Craziest storm ive ever been on the water around. Ill look up some other pics I have though..

Gnarly! I'd rather be on shore when the temps drop and/or the wind gets over 20 mph. It always feel colder on a boat. You are surrounded by water and you can't move around much to warm up. Getting sprayed by 40, even 50 degree water ain't fun.

It was years ago and don't think I still have the picture but I was on a hot bite...... A slight westerly breeze had been pushing my nymphs into a honey hole just out of reach where 30 pound bows stacked up...... all of a sudden the wind died and the sun came out...... worst day out on the water anyone could ever have! Great post tangler!

Jefferson lake 4 years ago in mid October with Troy coburn.

The steel "no motorboats" sign at the boat ramp was flexing and bending hard... And it was just about white out conditions. Lake looked like an ocean with all the swells... I think I got the video of it somewhere. I'll find it.

It was a fun day of fishing! Caught lots of lakers that were feeding in the waves...

A few years back we were going through Hartsel to Spinney and it was -15*. Stopped and had breakfast and I think it warmed up to -5* before we launched. Fishing wasn't even that good....
