Trout fishing with Crawfish Pattern- What size?

What is the recommended size crawfish patterns for fishing for trout? I was watching gulls the other week eating them 4-5" long at Eleven Mile. But should I go smaller for trout fishing?

Go to sportsmans and in the 99cent grub area with all the 1" chit they have mini craws. A very very hot item for me in early spring.

I like the rebel hard body craw small cranks; they do fairly well there also and only dive about 4-6' which is perfect from shore or trolling shallow.

I've found the Kasty in 1/4 oz. chrome/solid orange imitates a craw just fine. Of course jigged slowly along the bottom-

A weedless bottom? I don't see how you wouldn't get hung up constantly unless it was sandy or maybe rip rap?

x2. Trolling this lure up there works very well. I've even caught 40" pike on them.

Even a streamer on a klouser head or maribou jig or a tube jig dragged shallow, stirring up little puffs of mud More important than exactly matching a real craw is being in the right spot and "acting" like a craw.

Be the craw! 8)
