Default In this month's Green Carp Journal (Bassmaster Magazine)

They list the top 100 bass lakes nation wide and this year break it down further in that they have the top 25 in the west...no Colorado lakes in the top 25 in the west...last year if I remember right Pueblo made the top 100...

That's because the CPW hates invasive species.

In this years Colorado Outdoors Fishing publication I just got it this week, there is a article on PLO. In the article they tout highly that the lake was featured as a BASS top 100 lake...

There isn't one in the top 100 because there isn't one that belongs in the top 100. We just don't consistently grow big
bass. Nobodys fault, its just a function of forage and growing season.

Still Pueblo is a great numbers lake.

I gotta disagree with this so hard.

West slope fisheries have proven repeatedly they can grow slobs. The CPW doesn't care which is why they get all King 810 on warmwater species. See the recent tourney at Elkhead as a big example... And the gaps..

There are a handful of Colorado bodies of water that have proven over the years that they can grow tank bass, but you can't get 7's and 8's when they're plucked off beds and taken home as 4's and 5's. I wrote an article about having a few gold medal bass lakes which I'm going to keep trying to get done. Might take a decade but I'm not going anywhere.

We're talking about different things here-I never said with proper management the fishing wouldn't be better. Maybe alot better.

But I still don't think that gets us in the top 100. That was my point. Why we don't have C&R like other places I can't
explain-in other places I fish keeping bass is just about unheard of. To the point where TPWD is actually encouraging anglers to keep some, especially smaller ones.

Here we do it just the opposite with allowing anglers to only keep bigger bass.

With the shad count level, size, and warmer longer growing season Pueblo could grow giants if you inacted regs that let u keep the runts and thin out the herd...and protect everthing over 15 inches...
