Default Novice fish finder question

not sure how to ask...how do you picture the screen as itís moving to the right is it just underneath you or is it under and out front or be hind you

The freshest info is what is currently entering the screen. Everything past the edge is "old" info. You are looking at what is directly below the transducer as you pass over. The signal is cone shaped (narrow at the top, wide at the bottom) and the dimension at the widest, bottom, varies based on depth.

They are designed to point straight down.

So I have a Lowrance hook4x w DownScan and it shows the eye pointing straight back

The black part would be the eye... point that straight down?

The transducer is oblong and reads from the long surface opposite the mounting area... not sure what you are calling "the eye". Just follow the mounting directions in the manual.
