Default Standley Lake Closes to Boats.

This absolutely sucks. This is basically putting another 1000 or so boats on the local lakes.

How is the fishing at Standley Lake? Were there a lot of people fishing it before? I never hear anything about it.

it was were the state record walleye came from ,but mostly it was a water ski lake.never wanted to put a boat on it cause they made you quarantine your boat for a month.for a invasive species that never really has been proven to live here the state of colorado sure has a lot of knee jerk reactions

It is a good walleye and SMB lake. And all those boats that have been using the lake have to go somewhere.

More people, fewer resources, more red tape and higher costs, made the right decision to be somewhere else.

Surprised it took so long actually...we basically live in a desert 15 inches annual precipitation (a desert is 10 inches) water is gold here. I would of shut it down long ago if I owned vthe water. Every year I am stunned Atown hasnt done it. I was on a Minnesota lake chain last fall bouncing a blade bait across the bottom and the blade would come back now and then with zebra mussels on the hooks, If you pulled in a weed it was choked in them. I cant imagine what the prolific little bastards would do to water intake/outtake structures. With the traffic I got 7 more years here and I am done.

only thing z man is we dont have mussels here never did. they found spores in pueblo but if you remember last year they declared it mussel free.if you read more about them you will find that %99 of the spores supposedly die before becoming a full blown mussel.standley lake had a vigorous inspection and quarantine period for use of boats. as far as I know they never had any mussels there. so that leads me to believe theres something else going on. why else would they forgo all that revenue.

A drop in the bucket compared to water revenue generated coupled with annual costs if it went sideways and became full blown infected. I wouldbt risk it if I owned it. Recreation is far and away secondary.
