Default Blue gill Where are some ponds for the kids?

I am looking for some Bluegill to keep the kids intrested. I seem to be losing my 5 year old daughters intrest in fishing because she has not caught much lately.* I tried Hunters Glen lake in Thornton a few weeks ago but only caught one along with many small bass.* We also tried Webster lake in Northglenn* and caught one stocker trout.* I heard of circle hooks recently, would these help a 5 year old hook a few more fish?* I would prefer water on the north end of town if anyone has some suggestions.
Thanks

Not sure...I'd stick to well known bass ponds. Smaller waters and ignored gills will improve your chances. Just don't go to any "lures only" ponds with your kids.....bait is best for action on gills. (although bubble and fly is hard to beat) I know of several places here in the larimer/weld area if you want to drive.

I know the DOW stocked sanborn park in Greeley with bluegill and trout the last few years. Lake was dug and designed to be a fishery about 4 yrs ago. DOW does fishin clinics for kids there. They had one last thursday. Place is very kid friendly. Haven't fished much there so not sure how good the fishin is but you might give it a try.

I know of a couple good ones up in boulder county if you want to go that far. Let me know and I will tell you where. It gave me something to do last week when the Bass were not biting.

If you are willing to drive as far as Boulder, then try the Pella Ponds in Longmont. A lot of people mention ponds with gills, but little kids truly have to hook fish cast after cast to stay interested. I have found few other places that have nonstop gills like Pella.

I agree......but no bait is allowed. Tie a "trout magnet" jig under a bobber.......or a fly for the kids.
