Anyone catching crayfish yet? I am new at it and just want to know if this time of year is a waste of time or should you be able to catch them?

I have caught a bunch already. Try the nearest creek to your house and you should clean up.

I have put a trap in brush hollow a couple of times and no luck. Of course I am not sure there are many mudd skippers in there.

Roth I thought it was me...but when I have used leeches out there this year I havent had to use a floating jig head...absolutely no maiming of my leeches by crayfish...or plastics for that matter...have seen a few crawling around...smallies finally making a dent?...or some disease die off?...have to do the real test...a trout on a stinger on the dam towards dark...usually would have 25 lobsters show up in 15 minutes...

I remember last year when we would launch our pontoons early in the morning we would have lots of crawdads in the water on the boat ramp checking us out. My guess is that they were attracted to the light coming off our vehicles. Haven't seen a single one on the boat ramp this year.
