Default Anyone know of a decent smallmouth spot in the Metro area???

I will probably be going down to Chatfield in the next couple of weeks to hunt some smallies. But I don't really enjoy the big lakes as much as the small lakes and ponds. I was just wondering if anyone had any luck anywhere they were willing to share. I am strictly catch and release, I read that post on eating SMB, If I was going to eat a fish it would not be a smallie, they do not look good. It would probably be a perch. Oh well thanks for any help.

I've had my best luck for those at Chatfield and also in the ponds to the north of Chatfield (the only way to access those is going westbound on 470 just after you cross the river).

Horsetooth, Pueblo, Aurora reservoir, and Bear Creek Lake park are all good options................Bigger smallies will be in Aurora and Chatfield, Horsetooth............

I would have to agree.. My two cents: I think the next state record for smallies is gonna come out of there.

If your up in Longmont area, Pella Ponds have a good number of smallies also.. Just just get to the right pond..

Wow thanks for that info, I have never caught a smallie out there.* Didnt know they had them in there

Also agree on Standley, however I saw a smallie in the shallows on the damn at chatty a couple years ago that would have been a contender
