Default Catfishing at Valco Ponds...

Hey everyone I was curious how the catfishing is right now at the Valco Ponds? Is it worth spendin the whole night there or would it be a better choice to fish Lake pueblo?

I like Pueblo for Big Cats at night. Try old 96, park in the lot where the old road enters the water. Walk two coves west and fish about 20 yards up the cove from the lake. Just use Chicken liver threaded on a number 4 hook, no weight, just a nice gentle lob out.

Also, the old gravel pits in the Wildlife area, or under the railroad tressle in Turkey Creek.

Good Luck! Good Fishing!

I seen a BIG FAMILY with a million kids out there the other day catching a mess of cats. Unfortunately, I don't think there are any more left in there after they kept them all. They must have walked off with over 30 cats. I wanted to say something, but I wasn't too sure if they would understand English.

Don't forget the chicken livers. I like to fish them fresh.

I wont, but for me it is hard to fish them because I always think they have fallen off when I cast them out there which forces me to reel it in.... But most of the time im wrong and they are still well baited on the hook
What pound test do you usually use hobiecat?

Hey snagger, when fishing the livers, I've found that most people try to overthread them, just a couple times through and if you can catch a membrane, that's great. As far as line goes, for cats at Pueblo, I reccomend 10 lb test. I love fighting cats on 6 lb and light gear, but those Pueblo cats can get large. My personal best from Pueblo is 23 lbs and I know I've been broken off by larger ones. I once caught an 8lb er that had five hooks still embedded in her lips with various lengths of line attached, looked like a whole new set of whiskers had grown in. But, whatever test you decide to go with, just remember to set your drag and have fun playing the fish, and if you're concerned at all about your drag, while fighting the fish, just switch on over to backreel and that way, you can control the fish.

Good Luck! Good Fishing!
