Default chatterbaits

Hi all, I've been using plastics exclusively so far this year and intend
to give the chatterbait, and probably swimming jig, a go this weekend.
Any notes appreciated. I'll likely be using a Loomis GLX or IMX with either a Calais or Chronarch. MH - H, 6.5 - 7.0' and probably 12# XL or CAJUN .Don't like braid. Thanks...

I've thrown a chatter bait the last 4 trips for largemouths I've gone and have yet to catch anything on it, so if some does have pointers on how to use this thing I'd be interested as well.

There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.

Here's to Tight Lines, Bent Rods, and Screamin Reels.... FISH ON!

I have used them occasionally for the last couple years before the mad backorder and hype hit. The bass I have caught on them have been on a steady retrieve just like burning a rat-l-trap. Sometimes I'll change it up and pause it causing it to drop and then retrieve. Some hits have come on a steady retrieve while others have bit during the pause. Just like other baits.... I'll usually change my retrieve up with different techniques until I can find what sets the fish off at the time just like other lures. Just work it to the depth you want like any other jig and vary your retrieves like you would a crank bait.

I find I have the same if not more success and confidence in other crank baits like Rapalas and more traditional jig setup's. I have caught bass on chaterbaits but they have come with plenty of casts per catch.

I have always wanted to throw them for pike. Of course on my last trip out to WF resivoir I forgot them. Go figure huh....

I blush to admit, I bought a whole bunch of chatterbaits and swimming jigs early this spring and they are still sitting in the tackle box waiting for me to try them out. No excuse. But it will happen one of these days.... er, months.... years... reincarnations...
